Work has begun on the construction of Starbucks’ newest drive-thru coffee shop in Teesside.
The new outlet on Teesside Estate – which is owned by UK Land Estates – will create dozens of new jobs for the area.
Starbucks, which launched in the UK in 1998, announced ambitious plans earlier this year to open 100 new stores across the country during 2023.
The chain has already opened a number of new outlets in the North East as a result of this investment, with the new Teesside Estate site the latest to be added to its portfolio.
The move follows a £5million investment by Teesside Estate owner UK Land Estates into the development of numerous retail and industrial units at the business park over the past 12 months.
Delivering over 43,000sq ft of workspace, the investment has already seen Hydrasun and Park Electrical invest in the site, with Starbucks the latest to join its growing-list of tenants.
Tim Witty, development director at UK Land Estates, said: “We are delighted to welcome Starbucks to Teesside Estate.
“One of the things we take most pride in when developing our business parks is ensuring they have all of the amenities that businesses require, be it food and drink vendors, gyms and in some cases, even hotels.
“We also strive to do everything we can to ensure our developments really add value to the communities that house them, both economically and socially, and in Starbucks we have a partner who will help us deliver just that for Thornaby.
“It will create jobs for local people while also giving others and businesses a new destination to visit, it’ll be great for the area.”
