Workplace technology company Agilico has opened a new Gateshead office for its 70 employees in the region, in a move which is set to create job opportunities.
The 20,000 sq ft base at Team Valley will see its two existing offices consolidated into one building, improving operational efficiency, enhancing collaboration and streamlining operations.
The decision to bring together the two offices into one purpose-built facility stems from Agilico’s ambition to streamline its operations and reduce its environmental impact.
The new building – which is owned by UK Land Estates – was designed to be more energy-efficient, economically viable and environmentally responsible, with optimised heating, ventilation and lighting systems, making it ‘perfect’ for the company.
Warren Colby, regional managing director, said: “Not only is it a more energy-efficient, economical, brighter building for us, but it combines two sites. So, there’s one set of lights on as opposed to two sets across two buildings running.
“We consolidate operations and develop working synergies, as well as fostering that all important sense of collaboration. Many of our people are returning to the office environment post Covid and want to physically be able to collaborate with colleagues.”
With increased capacity and capabilities, the facility will become a hub for refurbishing IT devices, catering to customers not only in the local area but also extending to neighbouring regions across the north of England.
It will also see the company continue to increase its headcount, with more job opportunities set to be created as a direct result of the move.
Warren added: “We’re looking for individuals who share our passion for technology and sustainability. This move opens up exciting possibilities for career growth and development in the North East.”
David Gibbs, commercial director at UK Land Estates, said: “We are delighted that Agilico has chosen to expand its presence at Team Valley.
“The move to this modern development will not only help reduce its carbon footprint, but also facilitate additional space for expansion.”
Cllr Malcom Brain, cabinet member for economy at Gateshead Council, added: “I’m delighted to hear of Agilico’s continued commitment to creating more sustainable offices – an example of how local businesses can play their part in supporting Gateshead Council’s activities to be carbon neutral by 2030.
“I welcome the news that the new office will increase job opportunities for our local residents; we know in businesses that office environments are key to attracting today’s workforce. This certainly has been considered in their development of the new office space.”
